Kuan Yin is the Mandarin name for Avalokitesvara which literally means “one who perceives the worlds lamentations.” She is known as the Goddess of Mercy because she embodies compassion, comfort, healing, guidance, and success. She is often depicted as a female form in Mahayana Buddhism and Taoism. She can appear in any form, male or female, in order to benefit and teach the Dharma to all sentient beings. Kuan Yin assists in developing unconditional love within ourselves and towards others. For the creation of this special incense, a “mother” blend of sacred substances is gathered and rolled into small blessing pills called “mendrup”.
