Narrative:
Yellow Dzambala (Tibetan: གཞོན་སྤྱོད་དཔལ་འབྱེད་, Sanskrit: Jambhala) is one of the important wealth protectors in Tibetan Buddhism, in charge of worldly wealth and blessings. He is not only a symbol of wealth, but also represents the abundance brought by wisdom and good deeds.
**Origin of Yellow Caishen**
Yellow Jambhala originated from Indian Tantric Buddhism. It is said that he is the incarnation of **Vaiśravaṇa (the guardian of the north)**. He protects all living beings from the suffering of poverty and guides people to accumulate blessings and wealth through the righteous law. Later, his image and practice developed in Tibetan Buddhism and he became one of the Five Wealth Gods, and was especially revered by believers.
**The symbol of Yellow Dzambala**
The images of Yellow Jambhala are mostly golden in color, symbolizing gold and wealth. He usually holds:
- **Treasure-spitting rat**: It represents an endless supply of wealth, and symbolizes that wealth can be endless if practiced in accordance with the Dharma.
- **Treasure bottle**: filled with wealth and blessings, representing the abundance brought by good deeds.
- **Making the giving mudra with the right hand**: symbolizes his willingness to bestow wealth on all living beings.
**Tales**
According to legend, Yellow Jambhala received blessings from Buddhism during the Buddha's time and vowed to protect Buddhist practitioners, especially to help the poor improve their lives. He swore to the Buddha that as long as sentient beings did good deeds, accumulated blessings, and gave alms to the poor, he would use his magical powers to bestow wealth on them, allow the blessings to flow, and benefit society.
**Yellow Caishen’s practice**
In Tibetan Buddhism, there are many practices for Yellow Dzambala, such as:
- **Reciting the mantra of Yellow Jambhala** (such as "Om Zaini Bataza Wa Hong") can attract positive wealth and increase blessings.
- **Build the God of Wealth Altar** and pray to Yellow Jambhala for protection with the correct rituals to keep your wealth flowing.
- **Giving and doing good deeds**, this is the most important way to increase wealth. Only through good deeds can you gain true blessings.
Yellow Jambhala is not only a symbol of wealth, but also a reminder that wealth should come from good deeds and correct beliefs.
