Narrative:

In Tibetan Buddhism, the Five Wealth Gods (the Five Surnames of Wealth Gods) are gods in charge of wealth and blessings. They originated from Kubera in ancient India. Later, through the inheritance of Tantric Buddhism, they gradually evolved into five wealth gods of different colors and combined with the concept of the Five Buddhas.

**Origin of the Five Gods of Wealth**

The belief in the Five Gods of Wealth originated in India. The earliest image of the God of Wealth came from Kubera, who is the god of wealth in Indian mythology and is in charge of treasure and blessings. With the development of Tantric Buddhism, the belief in the God of Wealth was incorporated into the Buddhist system and evolved into five different colored gods of wealth in Tibetan Buddhism, corresponding to the Five Buddhas, symbolizing different wealth and blessings.

**Types and symbols of the Five Gods of Wealth**

1. Yellow God of Wealth (Zangbala Xiebo)

- Manages wealth and can free sentient beings from poverty. 

- Image: Golden skin, holding a Mani Pearl in the right hand and a treasure-spitting rat in the left hand, sitting on a lotus moon wheel. 

- Legend has it that he once protected Sakyamuni Buddha in the **Lingjiu Mountain** and preached the Dharma, and dispelled demonic obstacles.

2. White God of Wealth (the incarnation of Avalokitesvara)

- Respects wisdom, merit and wealth. 

- Image: White skin, three eyes wide open, holding a staff in the right hand and a trident in the left hand, riding a dragon and sitting on a lotus moon wheel. 

- Legend: It was created by the compassion of Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva to help sentient beings escape poverty.

3. Red God of Wealth (Goddess of Wealth)

- Responsible for popularity, wealth and food. 

- Image: Red skin, holding his consort in his arms, holding a Mani pearl in his right hand and a treasure-spitting rat in his left hand, standing on a lotus moon wheel. 

- Legend: It can attract noble people and fulfill wishes.

4. **Black God of Wealth** (the manifestation of the Immovable Buddha)

- To subdue and eliminate enemies and obstacles. 

- Image: Black skin, angry face and three eyes, holding a skull in the right hand and a treasure-spitting rat in the left hand, standing on a lotus moon wheel. 

- Legend: Helped an Indian king out of financial difficulties.

5. **Green God of Wealth** (Kalachakra Tantra)

- Increase your health, career success and wealth. 

- Image: Green skin, holding a wish-fulfilling dharma in the right hand, a treasure-spitting rat in the left hand, a conch shell on the right foot, in union with the Buddha Mother, sitting on a lotus moon wheel. 

- Legend: Under the instruction of Sakyamuni Buddha, he turned the Dharma wheel for the poor sentient beings.

There are many ways to practice the Five Wealth Gods, usually by chanting mantras (such as "Hum Zamu Balazan Lian Zhaye Soha") to pray for wealth and blessings. These gods of wealth not only control wealth, but can also help practitioners eliminate obstacles and increase blessings.
