Honoring to Vajra-shan, the Ambassador of Life-Saving

Next, let's discuss the origins of Vajra-shan (Dangchen Dorje Repa). His parents were from the Devas and Dragons. His father was Chodhi Xiuli and his mother was Xinyi.

He was born on the night of the 17th day of the twelfth month of the Tibetan calendar. Five days after his birth, he was able to speak to his parents. He asked them where his food was. What should I drink? What kind of work should I do?

He asked his mother, and she told him, "What should I eat? Tiger hearts, sheep hearts, mouse hearts, and so on. What should I drink? Milk and wine, and so on. Your work is not worldly. Your work is to protect the teachings of the eight great Herukas."

When he was born, he had a mole on his heart. This mole was in the shape of a small vajra. It was a natural mole on his heart at birth. His mother took him to see Palmistry is a custom in India and Tibet. When children are young, they consult a fortune teller to learn about their physiognomy. One of the reasons they asked the palmist was that the child had a mole shaped like a vajra on their heart. The palmist told the mother that this was a very good sign and that they should take the child to the abode of Vajrapani Bodhisattva to ask for empowerment and teachings. The reason for this is that the vajra, the mani jewel, the lotus, and the cross vajra generally represent four different castes. The vajra represents the caste of the Vajra family.

The mother took The child was brought to Vajrapani Bodhisattva, who then taught him the Dharma and gave him the empowerment name Dorje Lekpa. The reason for this name is that Dorje means vajra, and when he was born, he had a vajra symbol in his heart. Lekpa means very, very good.

When his mother went to see a palmist, the palmist saw this sign and said it was a very, very good omen. Therefore, Vajrapani Bodhisattva gave him the name Dorje Lekpa. Vajrapani Bodhisattva then instructed Dorje Lekpa, saying, "Our current kalpa is called Xianjie, in this Kalpa of the Light of Virtue, one thousand and two Buddhas will be born. You should carefully protect the teachings of these one thousand and two Buddhas. In the past kalpa, when Dipamkara Buddha was born, Dangchen Dorje Lekpa was born during the time of Dipamkara Buddha. In India, there are four castes: the royal caste, the Brahmin caste, and so on. He was one of the two lower castes. Born during the time of Dipamkara Buddha, he was a man of that time. He received the novice precepts from Dipamkara Buddha and finally developed the bodhi mind and took the bodhisattva precepts.

When Dangchen Dorje Lekpa was young, one day he was practicing at home alone. He remembered what his mother had told him: "Your food is the hearts of tigers, sheep, and mice." At that time, there was a sheep next door, so he stole it. Sometimes he transformed into a wolf, a wolf made entirely of iron, or an eagle, foraging for food and harming sentient beings. Eventually, because no one could restrain or discipline him, he became his enemy, killing all the men. The women gathered him up and lived with him. (But hadn't he already received teachings from Vajrapani?) Poche said that it was because his mother told him that he should eat his heart, etc., and because of these words from his mother since he was a child, it caused obstacles in his practice. At that time, Hayagriva thought that if these sentient beings were not tamed, the entire three realms would be greatly harmed. So Hayagriva struck Dangjian with his magic weapon, the demon-subduing stick, and Dangjian Dorje Lekpa's head immediately split into eight pieces. Dangjian Dorje Lekpa's own eight consciousnesses, the eyes, ears, nose, tongue, body, mind, manas, and alaya, manifested as the eight main attendants around Dorje Lekpa. Outside them were 360 attendants of Dangjian, 120 of whom were riding on birds. One hundred and twenty rode on sheep, another hundred and twenty rode on lions, and there were a total of three hundred and sixty retinues. Therefore, at this time, Dorje Lekpa was subdued by two Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. The first was Vajrapani, who gave him empowerment and instructions. The second was Hayagriva, who subdued him and gave him instructions again. Later, when Guru Padmasambhava was practicing in Yamaru, India, particularly when he was practicing the Dangkeng method, Dangkeng Dorje Lekpa manifested with a white body, a hat on his head, and thick, large shoes on his feet, riding on a female horse. He appeared before Guru Rinpoche in the form of a lion and told him that he would protect his teachings, whether he was in India, Nepal, or Tibet.

I had previously promised this before Vajrapani and Hayagriva, and today, before Guru Rinpoche, I promise to uphold and protect his teachings. When he met Guru Rinpoche, he first took off his hat and bowed to him. Then he asked, "Who am I? Do you know me?" Guru Rinpoche knew who he was, but feigned ignorance, asking, "Who are you? Are you a god, a celestial being, or a ghost? Where did you come from?" Who is your father? Who is your mother? Who are your relatives? What is your job? What is the seed syllable of your life? What are you doing here?

Dangjian then told Guru Rinpoche in detail who his father and mother were, and the history of his past and present lives, his entire life history. He told Guru Rinpoche in detail. After he finished, Guru Rinpoche took off his hat and placed it on the ground. Then, Guru Rinpoche placed a syllabary on his head.

He told him that from now on, he could not Before harming any sentient being, remember that you previously made bodhicitta vows before Dipamkara Buddha. From now on, you must not harm any sentient being.

In the Tibetan Bon religion, they pray to Dangjian as a celestial deity. In Buddhism, we offer offerings and prayers to Dangjian as a Dharma protector. Businessmen worship Dangjian as the god of wealth. Military officers and soldiers worship Dangjian as a great general. Thieves worship Dangjian Dorje Lekpa as the king of thieves. Therefore, offerings to Dangchen Dorje Lekpa were made to all kinds of people: businessmen, thieves, robbers, soldiers, and even Bon believers. For us Buddhists, this kind of offering also applies to our practice. No matter who you are, you will encounter various difficulties in your life. Therefore, as long as you pray to Dangchen Dorje Lekpa, he will help you overcome your obstacles.

Rinpoche said that sometimes Dangchen would go to a blacksmith's house to work as a forger, and sometimes he would appear as a blacksmith. Therefore, there is a Tibetan legend that if... If you wear an iron object made of Dangjian, no one can harm you.

So, in Buddhism, what kind of Dharma protector is the Dangjian Dharma Protector we offer offerings and pray to?

He is a wise Dharma Protector who protects the Dharma.

In ancient Tibet, there was a very poor man who practiced Dangjian, a form of wealth deity. He practiced Dangjian to seek wealth. One day, Dangjian manifested, and he was able to see Dangjian Dorje Lekpa. However, in his past lives, this man had never made any donations or planted any seeds of generosity.

So, even though Dangjian manifested, he still saw Dangjian Dorje Lekpa. As for Danjian, he did not have much blessings in terms of wealth. One day, a rich man was giving away porridge, so he went with many beggars to receive the food. Each person was given a bowl of porridge, but the person who was scooping the porridge gave him a piece of white fat tendons on the bones. At night, when he was practicing the Dharma, Danjian appeared and said to him, "I gave you a blessing today. Did you know?" He said that he only got a bowl of noodles today, but this bowl of noodles is shared by everyone. It is not a special blessing. Danjian said, "Everyone gets a bowl of noodles, but your noodles are not... There's also a piece of meat. This is the blessing I'm giving you. Rinpoche said that before practicing the Wealth God practice, you must make a mandala offering and practice generosity. If you don't accumulate merit through generosity, even if you achieve manifestation through practice, it will be difficult to increase your merit. For example, in this example, even if you achieve manifestation through practice, you'll still be very poor and at most receive the blessing of a small piece of meat.

So, in Tibet, lay people generally consider Danjian to be the God of Wealth. Therefore, they regard Danjian as the same as the God of Wealth. During the ceremony of Jinlong Lingpa, The prayer specifically mentions that if we dream of Dangjian appearing in a wrathful, black form at night, it signifies a bad dream, a negative omen. However, if we see Dangjian smiling and joyful in our dreams, it signifies that he is granting us the blessing of accomplishment.

Golden Dragon Lingpa's prayer states that when we perform rituals to invoke Dangjian Dorje Lekpa, we offer a small amount of sheep fat, the white layer on the meat, and burn a small amount of smoke. Dangjian Dorje Lekpa will immediately descend. This is a biography of Dangjian.

Dangjian, the Dharma Protector, appears as a sheep.
